Node.js Backend Engineer Hybrid Role Compensation: $32-$34 per hour ABOUT THE ROLE Our client is seeking a backend-focused Node.js Engineer to join a team building greenfield platforms from the ground up, with a primary focus on fraud prevention and identity management (IAM) systems. This role centers on the Shield application, which includes web, API, and some mobile-backed functionality. You will work in a highly unstructured, build-from-scratch environment, collaborating within a broader full-stack team to deliver innovative solutions. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, passionate about defining architecture and best practices, and eager to take ownership of solutions from inception to deployment. This is an opportunity to shape new platforms and influence how they scale, rather than maintain existing code. WHAT YOU'LL DODesign, build, and enhance Node.js-based backend services and APIs for fraud and identity management systems, with a focus on the Shield applicationDevelop and support customer-facing identity features, including authentication and biometrics, across web, API, and mobile-backed platformsIntegrate applications with distributed systems and cloud services, particularly AWSCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams working on event-driven platforms using technologies like Kafka and streaming servicesDefine architecture, establish best practices, and contribute to technical decision-making in a greenfield environmentOwn solutions end-to-end, from conception to deployment, proactively addressing ambiguity and driving platform scalabilityHelp shape the direction and standards for new platform development, ensuring robust, scalable, and secure solutions WHAT YOU BRINGStrong proficiency in Node.js for backend/API development, including experience with web, API, and mobile-backed functionalityExperience with identity and access management (IAM) systems, including authentication and biometricsFamiliarity with distributed systems and cloud services, particularly AWSAbility to integrate with event-driven platforms (e.g., Kafka, streaming technologies)Comfort working in highly unstructured, greenfield environments and stepping into ambiguityExperience defining architecture and establishing best practices for new platformsDemonstrated ownership of solutions from design to deployment, not just executing ticketsCollaborative mindset for working with cross-functional teams in a full-stack environment
