SommelierBorgo, a celebrated Italian trattoria from The Marlow Collective, is seeking a part-time Dining Room Sommelier. We are looking for candidates with open availability for a position 3 shifts per week. What we offer:Subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance at 90 daysIndustry-leading paid time off plans + paid family leave401k plan access beginning at hireDiscounts across our group of businessesAccess to our Employee Emergency Assistance Program for added supportWhat you bring:2-3 years of progressive wine education and hospitality experience and a minimum of 1 year working as a restaurant sommelierAn understanding and appreciation of natural wineKnowledge of the historic producers and appellations of France and ItalyYou're reliable, focused, organized, communicative, and curiousKeen attention to detail and spatial awarenessA receptive and charitable attitude toward constructive feedbackKey responsibilities:Drive wine sales on the dining room floorRecommend, present, and serve wines from our bottle list with confidence and clarityExecute all aspects of technical wine service, including proper glassware, serving temperature, decanting, and presentationContribute to all aspects of service, including table maintenance, food running, and building a detailed understanding of our offerings, menu and beverage alikeSupport the Wine Director with:Cellar management, including organization, bin system maintenance, and receiving/stocking wine ordersMaintaining an up-to-date wine listAssisting in training FOH staff on wine knowledge and service standards, including contributing to pre-service briefings and tastingsA part-time Dining Room Sommelier is regularly scheduled for up to a 3-day, 22-26 hour work-week, including weekends, but will occasionally be expected to work additional days during peak periods and/or to cover staffing shortages. When applicable and lawful, we deduct the tip credit of $5.65 / hour from the NY State minimum wage of $17.00 / hour. While performing the duties of the job, a Sommelier regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
