PT Non-Certified Tutor - Central CampusDutiesEffectively delivers tutoring services to students at scheduled times (may be individual or group sessions). Posts and maintains a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointmentsAssists students with the development of study skills necessary for post-secondary educationKeeps regular and accurate records of tutoring sessionsMonitors and reviews student work. Modifies and personalizes tutoring strategies to accommodate the different learning styles and needsFacilitates the learning process by encouraging students to take responsibility for their progressInteracts with SJC staff and/or faculty to obtain any necessary course syllabi or materials, and to develop tutoring materials in support of the courseDelivers feedback as appropriate to staff and/or faculty regarding student progressContinues professional education through research and review of relevant material relating to the assigned subject matterMay assist with additional duties as needed, for example, covering the front desk, answering phones, organizing materials, checking out resources, and performing other duties as assignedCompletes and submits required documents in an accurate and timely mannerActively participates in departmental meetings as requiredComplete CRLA level 1 certification within one year of employmentResponsible for other reasonable related duties as assignedSkills/ QualificationsDemonstrated proficiency in assigned discipline's subject matter (STEM Field)Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and writtenCommitment to quality service to studentsAbility and commitment to work collaborativelyAbility to work independently with little direct or continuous supervision3.0 General GPA and 3.5 in specific courses interested in tutoringSalary Grade: 13Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year.
