SCHOOL NUTRITION PROGRAM FOOD SUBSTITUTE
Position SummaryThe School Nutrition Substitute provides temporary support in school cafeterias by assisting with food preparation, serving, cleaning, and cashier duties. This position ensures students receive nutritious meals in a safe, clean, andefficient environment while maintaining compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist with preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch meals according to standardized recipes and portion guidelines.Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures in compliance with HACCP guidelines.Operate basic kitchen equipment safely (ovens, steamers, warmers, slicers, etc.).Serve students in a courteous and professional manner.Perform cashier duties and accurately handle meal counts and payments, if assigned.Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment.Clean and sanitize work areas, tables, serving lines, and storage areas.Receive and properly store deliveries according to established procedures.Follow all district policies, including confidentiality and student interaction guidelines.Perform other duties as assigned by the School Nutrition Manager or Director.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED preferred.Experience in food service preferred but not required.Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Ability to work cooperatively with staff and students.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and carry items.Ability to work in a warm, fast-paced kitchen environment.Work ScheduleAs needed basis.Hours vary depending on school assignment.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Medium Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
