Student Camp Counselor (Summer)

Pay Range: Targeted salary of $15.00/hr, based on experience.Benefits Eligible: NoWork Schedule: Flexible schedule during the weeks of May 25 - August 7, 2026 plus mandatory orientation on May 11, 2026.Travel: Not requiredPosition IntroductionPrecollegiate Programs is seeking 15 Student Summer Camp Counselors. Our summer programs introduceelementary, middle, and high school students to the college experience through immersive, hands-on learningopportunities.Our summer programming includes Mini College, YES Camp, Sooner Works Summer Academy, and ROOT4NANO, eachdesigned to introduce students to academic fields through engaging activities led by OU faculty and staff.As a Summer Program Counselor, you will play a vital role in shaping these experiences. You will serve as a mentor,guide, and support system, ensuring that every student feels welcomed, engaged, and encouraged. Whether assisting inclassrooms, supporting residential programs, or supervising students during lunch and recreational activities such as poolvisits, counselors are often the first connection students have to campus life.Required Education And ExperienceMust be currently enrolled in a combination of two terms as a student at the University of Oklahoma.Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.Must attach Fall, Spring, and/or Summer OU class scheduleExperiencePrevious experience working with youth (ages 6-18) in an educational, mentorship, or recreational setting.Per OU's Minors on Campus policy, all counselors must be 18 or older.SkillsStrong leadership and mentorship abilitiesEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively within a teamFlexibility to adapt to changing schedules and student needsAbility to participate in recreational activitiesDepartment PreferencesCollege coursework completed in Education, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Fine Arts, Architecture, Journalism, Humanities, and/or Meteorology.Familiarity with OU residence hall policies and procedures.At least 1 year of experience working with students that have intellectual and developmental disabilities.Hiring Contingent Upon a Background Check: Yes
