Scope of the RoleResponsible for ensuring Smith & Wesson's compliance with all applicable Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) regulations and requirements; ensuring successful implementation and integration of all EH&S programs. 60,160-80,000.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety or similar field4-6 years of EH&S experience, preferably working in a manufacturing environmentExperience in facilities/maintenance preferredExperience with risk management carriers preferredExperience with fire department and building code regulations preferredCompetencies and Skills:Working knowledge of 40 CFR 260-279: Hazardous WasteWorking knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 Regulations and StandardsWorking knowledge of NFPA RegulationsWorking knowledge of electronic and mechanical operations and applications in a manufacturing environmentStrong problem-solving skillsStrong organization skillsAbility to work independentlyAbility to complete projects as assigned in a timely mannerMust be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (basic verbal instructions, simple written memos and instructions)Intermediate computer skills required -- Microsoft Office applicationsProven ability to identify, investigate, correct, and document potential environmental, health and safety non-conformances.Ability to acquire EH&S certifications as necessaryEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Serving as the Company's back-up radiation and laser safety officer (all sites) and conducting all related activitiesManaging and maintaining all technical and tactical aspects of the Hazardous Waste ProgramCollecting waste water and storm water samples and completing reporting requirementsMaintaining the SDS database for Springfield and other locations as neededEnsuring compliance with all EH&S programs, policies and procedures across all locationsConducting EH&S inspections and program auditsConducting risk hazard assessments and implementing recommended controlsInvestigating work related accidents, incidents, compliance events and serious near missesPurchasing and maintaining safety and environmental suppliesProviding EH&S support other locations as requestedProviding 24-hr access and availability for incident responseResponding to EH&S concerns raised by employeesConducting new hire orientation and other EH&S training as necessaryHelping the department to reach all Company EH&S goals and objectivesNOTE: This list presents only the principal duties of the position and is not intended to be comprehensive. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations.
