Systems Engineer Principal (VDI)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer Principal (VDI) to support a company focused on delivering secure, scalable technology solutions for mission-critical federal programs. This position is on-site at Newington, VA. The Systems Engineer Principal (VDI) will lead the architecture, sustainment, and optimization of enterprise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environments supporting high-security operations. This role directly enables mission partners to perform their work reliably in a fast-paced and security-driven environment.Responsibilities for the Systems Engineer Principal (VDI) include:Design, develop, and maintain enterprise VDI architectures in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teamsSupport day-to-day operations of VDI environments, ensuring system performance, scalability, and securityTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues impacting VDI infrastructure and end usersPerform pre-production testing and validation of VDI images to ensure stability and compatibilityImplement automation, scripting, and workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiencyRequired Qualifications for the Systems Engineer Principal (VDI) include:8+ years of experience supporting enterprise systems engineering and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure environmentsExperience with Omnissa Horizon hosted on VMware vSphere, including image management, profile management, and performance optimizationExperience supporting and managing thin client environments using tools such as Wyse Management Suite and Dell Wyse Management SuiteStrong understanding of Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and their impact on VDI images and user experienceExperience with profile management solutions, including FSLogixFamiliarity with DISA STIG compliance requirements and security best practicesExperience monitoring VDI environments using tools such as Liquidware StratusphereStrong scripting and automation skills, particularly using PowerShellExperience with Image as Code tools such as HashiCorp PackerFamiliarity with NDES, 802.1x authentication, and endpoint security tools such as CrowdStrike or TrellixWorking knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and DHCPExperience with application packaging tools such as Liquidware FlexAppBachelor’s Degree in a related technical disciplineActive TS/SCI clearanceSecurity+ certificationCompensation for the Systems Engineer Principal (VDI) include:Salary Range: $155,000 – $175,000 depending on experienceFull Benefits Package: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Sick leave as required by lawKeywords: Systems Engineer Principal, VDI Engineer, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Omnissa Horizon, VMware vSphere, PowerShell, DISA STIG, TS/SCI Clearance, Security+, Wyse Management Suite, FSLogix, HashiCorp Packer, Liquidware Stratusphere, Thin Clients, Federal IT, Systems Engineering
