Safety Coordinator Reports To: Corporate Safety DirectorWho You AreYou are a hands-on safety professional who thrives in an active operational environment and values collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You bring a strong working knowledge of OSHA and environmental health and safety standards and are comfortable engaging with field teams, supervisors, and leadership to promote a proactive safety culture. You are organized, detail-oriented, and confident presenting safety information and driving compliance across multiple sites.What You’ll DoImplement, monitor, and continuously improve site and regional safety programs in alignment with corporate EHS policiesSupport and assist with corporate safety initiativesConduct new employee safety orientations and ongoing safety training for employees and subcontractorsDevelop, coordinate, and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly safety briefings and toolbox talksReview, develop, and maintain Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Site-Specific Safety PlansEnsure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available, maintained, and consistently usedMaintain accurate safety training records and databasesConduct routine safety inspections, audits, and compliance checks; document and track corrective actionsInvestigate incidents, near-misses, and hazardous conditions and prepare reportsCollect and maintain OSHA-required data for internal, customer, and regulatory reportingInterface with project managers, supervisors, craft personnel, and corporate leadershipReview subcontractor safety plans and JHAs to ensure complianceSafely handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations.What You’ll BringHigh school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Safety or related field preferredExperience supporting safety programs in facilities, construction, or environmental settingsWorking knowledge of OSHA regulationsPrior experience working with hazardous materials, including proper handling, labeling, transportation, and spill response procedures.Experience developing and delivering safety trainingStrong communication and organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to pass a U.S. Government background investigation and drug screen Location Requirements The position will primarily work onsite in Durham, NC with travel up to 25% to regional project sites.CompensationCompensation: Expected Salary: $80,000 - $95,000Who We AreHeadquartered in Washington, DC, Versar Global Solutions provides full mission lifecycle solutions for challenges faced by our government and commercial Customers in the natural, built, and digital environments.
