Retail Clerk Lead – SeasonalJob Statement / PurposeThe Lead Retail Clerk will support the Ch'k'iqadi Gallery Manager and Coordinator and oversee interns and apprentices with the daily operations of Admissions and the Ch'k'iqadi Gallery. Responsibilities include greeting all visitors, selling admission tickets, sharing a brief overview of the Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC), checking out guests at the Gallery register, restocking inventory, engaging shoppers who visit, and actively exploring and learning about Alaska Native art, traditions, and languages. The Lead Retail Clerk will also assist with marketing needs, including taking photos for the gallery website, writing art descriptions, and drafting social media posts as needed.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGreet customers using Alaska Native languages at Admissions and in Gallery.Develop a working knowledge of Alaska Native culture and art.Execute Point of Sale data functions at the register using a Square system that includes entering SKU numbers, processing transactions, and handling and counting cash.Execute clerical functions and paperwork in Admissions and Gallery, including Tour Vouchers, daily sales reports and balancing of the cash register daily.Assist in handling inventory deliveries by counting inventory and organizing necessary storage.Maintain, manage, and organize merchandise on the shelves and racks in the Gallery.Enter purchase orders and consignments into Square.Assist the Gallery Manager in ensuring the smooth running of the store and providing support and oversight of ANHC interns and apprentices.Ensure excellent retail experience for customers.Maintain the store by cleaning, arranging, and restocking the shelves.Package inventory for shipping as needed.Report to the Manager or Coordinator when difficulties arise.Assist with drafting Gallery Social Media Posts and take photos for the gallery store website.Job SpecificationsAble to perform basic math, writing, and reading tasks without supervision.Considerable ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Able to comfortably stand for extended periods of time.Willingness to engage in Alaska Native language learning and art projects.Other ResponsibilitiesStock product as necessary, ensuring displays are kept stocked, neat, and clean within gallery guidelines.Keep sales floor clean, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and trash removal to maintain a presentable and safe work area.Provide accurate, helpful information to ANHC visitors.Delegate daily tasks and duties for incoming interns and apprentices assigned to work with Admissions and the Gallery.Assist with public communications for the Gallery, such as taking photos and gathering data for social media posts.Perform other tasks and duties as needed by the business.Physical And Environmental RequirementsStand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or controls as required by the job.Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Work primarily in an indoor retail environment.Occasionally work in Alaska weather extremes.J-18808-Ljbffr
