Through its U.S. subsidiaries (Ecopetrol USA Inc, Ecopetrol America LLC, Ecopetrol Permian LLC, Ecopetrol US Trading LLC) the company brings together a talented, multinational team that supports: Onshore development in the Permian Basin (Midland and Delaware), and Offshore exploration and production in the U.S. Gulf.About the RoleReporting to Ecopetrol USA Controller, the Accounting Lead is responsible for overseeing the financial close procedures for the multiple operations of Ecopetrol in the US, including the review of financial and technical information provided by the different operators, the review of journal entries and variance analysis, the proper application of accounting policies, the generation and presentation of management reports and corporate filings, and the issuance of standalone financial statements. Proficiency in the job will require coordination within the accounting area as well as other areas of the company such as engineering, field operations, land management, audit, among others.ResponsibilitiesOversee financial reporting and analysis under IFRS, including monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reviews.Review Joint Interest Billings (JIB), journal entries, and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.Lead audit processes (financial, SOX) and ensure strong internal controls and implementation of recommendations.Coordinate budgeting, variance analysis, and reporting for management and headquarters.Partner with technical and cross-functional teams to monitor JV projects and financial performance.Support IFRS implementation, accounting research, and development of best-practice processes.Drive efficiency in reporting systems (SAP modules) and continuous improvement initiatives.Lead accounting team members.QualificationsOverall Experience Requirement: 10 years’ or more in accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in supervising staff.Experience in the upstream oil & gas industry, both as an operator and non-operator. Familiarity with non-conventional is a plus.Working knowledge of PowerBi a plus.Working knowledge of IFRS.SOX compliance and controls as related to financial reporting.Required SkillsBachelor’s degree in accounting. MBA or CPA are a plus.Language Ability: English.
