Travel RN - ICU

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Adult ICU travel assignment at a Level 1 Trauma Center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience in a large teaching facility and prior Level 1 trauma experience.Job Details• Adult ICU setting within an acute care Level 1 Trauma Center, encompassing SICU, MICU, and Trauma ICU pods across 120 total beds (40 beds per pod),• MICU patient population includes sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, prone therapy, heat stroke, and overdose patients - most patients are intubated,• SICU patient population includes post-op vented patients, lung/liver/kidney transplants, severe back surgeries, and Whipple procedures,• Trauma ICU patient population includes MVAs, GSWs, closed head injuries, and orthopedic trauma,• Bedside procedures include bronchoscopies, tracheostomies, and hemodialysis catheter placements,• RNs are required to titrate drips and manage common titratable and set-rate infusions,• Ventilator equipment includes Servo-I, jet, and oscillator ventilators,• RNs are required to independently read and interpret their own cardiac monitor strips,• Intensivist and respiratory therapy coverage available 24/7,• Charting is performed in Cerner,• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a),• 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week scheduling period,• Holiday coverage is assigned in rotation with core staff,• Self-scheduling is available with the scheduler's right to rebalance,• Travelers are required to float among all ICU areas and may also float to MedSurg/Tele units and a secondary campus,• 13-week contract,Job Requirements• Active AZ RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license - must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted,• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS - pending certifications are not accepted,• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required,• Experience in a 600+ bed teaching facility required,• Level 1 Trauma Center experience required,• Must pass a Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation; candidates have 2 attempts,• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire,• Valid driver's license required for consideration,• Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility (driver's license used to verify permanent address),Additional Information• Provide critical care nursing to a complex ICU population spanning medical, surgical, and trauma subspecialties,• On Day 1 of orientation, RNs must pass a pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment covering sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes - nurses have been terminated during SIMs Lab for breaking sterile field,• Orientation also includes non-evaluative education on lifts, restraints, and wound care,• Unit-based orientation consists of 2 shifts on the floor,• Navy scrubs required,• Natural hair color required; facial piercings are not permitted,• Men must be clean-shaven to comply with fit-test requirements,• Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
