Nonnewaug High School agriscience teachers are leaders in their field and specialize in meeting students' needs in and across a variety of State and National Standards. NHS agriscience teachers work with their instructional leader to continually develop cutting edge curricula and lessons that meet the needs of all students. A deep understanding of tier one intervention instruction is needed. Nonnewaug High School agriscience teachers strive for excellence and challenge students with a rigorous approach while co-planning with departments across the school. The candidate must demonstrate:Instruct in accordance with the Region 14 teacher job descriptionDevelop and deliver a comprehensive agriscience curriculum (to include veterinary science 10, veterinary science 11/12, amongst other things)Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students in the school settingConfer with families and professionals in the school and community for the best interests of the studentsPlan, evaluate, and revise the agriscience courses and programsPerform additional duties, where appropriate, which are assigned within the scope of employment and certification (to include potential SAE visits)Collaborate with teaching colleagues on subject area teamsDemonstrate willingness to seek and act on feedback from other instructional leaders, colleagues, and administratorsEstablish and maintain frequent communication with parents, guardians, and familiesEvaluate student needs based on data and employ a variety of instructional strategies to meet these needsCollaborate with support staff and interventionists to develop and evaluate progress towards meeting measurable goals and objectivesParticipate in professional learning opportunities provided by the district and incorporate new learning into instructional practicesMaintain PowerSchool gradebook that reflects the intended curriculum and recognizes our Vision of a Learner attributesUnderstands the importance of data driven decision making and the impact it has on teaching and learning SALARY: By Contract WORK YEAR: By Contract QUALIFICATIONS: State of Connecticut Vocational Agriculture (040/041) Highly Recommended UNION AFFILIATION: Nonnewaug Teachers Association Candidates of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
