Mechanical/ Structures Engineer
Overview
As a Mechanical/Structures Engineer at Aegis Aerospace, you will support spacecraft mechanical and structural systems across CAD modeling, analysis, and hardware integration. You’ll work with multidisciplinary teams through the engineering lifecycle on spacecraft structures, mechanisms, docking systems, and fluid hardware. Your hands-on CAD and analysis skills help design, verify, and optimize flight and ground hardware for spaceflight programs. This role offers meaningful impact in advancing space missions from design to test and delivery.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, components, and engineering drawings for mechanical/structural applicationsPrepare and export CAD geometry for analyses across structural, thermal, fluid, and manufacturing domainsDesign mechanical components, structural hardware, mechanisms, fixtures, ground support equipment, and fluid-system hardwarePerform or support finite element, stress, modal, fatigue, and structural-performance analysesEvaluate designs for load paths, interfaces, materials, tolerances, and environments to identify issuesDevelop and review engineering drawings using geometric dimensioning and tolerancingSupport design-for-manufacturability including machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, inspection, and supplier coordinationSupport integration, verification, qualification, testing, and test result evaluationAssist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to mechanical hardware and testsCoordinate with manufacturing, suppliers, test engineers, and other engineering groups to enable hardware fabrication and deliveryUse PLM and configuration-control systems to manage models, drawings, and revisionsCollaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to assess interfaces and integrated performancePrepare technical findings, analysis results, and design recommendations for documentationSupport issue resolution across mechanical, structural, manufacturing, integration, and test domains
Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (or related discipline)3+ years of relevant engineering experience in mechanical design, analysis, aerospace hardware, or related areasHands-on experience with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent CAD toolsExperience creating or modifying mechanical components, assemblies, CAD models, and engineering drawingsExperience applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principlesExperience with finite element, stress, modal, fatigue, or related analysesExperience supporting mechanical/structural design, fabrication, integration, testing, or productionAbility to evaluate technical problems and develop practical recommendationsAbility to work with multidisciplinary teamsExcellent written and verbal communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsU.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident able to obtain NASA facility accessstrong communicationorganizationproblem-solvingSiemens NXSolidWorksCreo
