Assistant Maintenance Manager
Become a part of our Transdev team as an Assistant Maintenance Manager in El Centro, CA. This position assists in the supervision of the vehicle maintenance and repair of the fixed route, paratransit and support vehicles. The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager in the maintenance oversight of sixty-three (63) vehicles and supervision of eleven (11) maintenance employees. This individual must have the ability to effectively lead, work and communicate with employees and customers, and ensure repairs and maintenance are performed in a timely and efficient manner in the absence of the Maintenance Manager. Compensation & Benefits
Competitive compensation package of minimum $70,304 annually – maximum $84,000 annually
Benefits include: Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks; Sick days: 5 days; Holidays: 12 days (8 standard and 4 floating); Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short-term disability, voluntary long-term disability.
Major Responsibilities
Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff.
Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
Manage equipment, parts and supplies inventories.
Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs and equipment history.
Input data into maintenance software database ensuring the accuracy and timeliness for reporting purposes.
Assist in the procurement of parts and the management of parts inventory.
Demonstrate behaviors consistent with standards for professional and ethical conduct.
Communicate professionally with customers, team members and supervisors.
Other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance department.
Minimum Education Required
High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
Minimum Experience & Skills Required
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
Minimum of three (3) years of experience dealing with heavy equipment, preferably experience with CNG transit buses.
Experience working with Unions in the transportation industry.
Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.
Experience supervising employees on multiple shifts.
Solid computer skills in standard office tools including word processing and spreadsheet software and use of web-based systems.
Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds and sometimes more than 100 pounds.
Mobile between office and work areas, use of ladder/stairs/ramp/ scaffolding, and handling tools requiring manual dexterity.
Regularly able to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel, speak, hear, reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors, gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust, and machinery with moving parts requiring protective devices.
