VOLUNTEER Front Desk
Crisis Services is looking to add to our team. We are seeking a Front Desk Volunteer who is interested in supporting our mission to provide crisis support to anyone in need. This position is an unpaid volunteer position.
Who we are
Crisis Services is Erie County's 24-hour crisis center and suicide prevention center. Crisis Services is also Erie County's designated rape crisis center and NYS approved provider of domestic violence, elder abuse and family violence service provider. In addition to providing direct services, Crisis Services promotes safety, health and hope through education and direct outreach.
About this opportunity
As a Front Desk Volunteer, you will serve as the first point of contact for visitors, clients, and callers. This role helps create a welcoming, organized, and professional environment by providing friendly assistance, handling basic administrative tasks, and supporting daily front desk operations.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist visitors, clients, and staff in a warm and professional manner
Answer and route incoming phone calls appropriately
Respond to basic inquiries or direct individuals to the correct staff member or department
Maintain sign-in sheets and visitor logs as needed
Maintain security of the Agency by following all safety protocols
Keep the front desk and reception area clean, tidy, and well-stocked
Follow confidentiality and privacy guidelines at all times
Support staff with additional tasks as needed
Volunteer schedule
Crisis Services Front Desk Volunteer hours will vary based on need throughout the year.
For the first 6 weeks of training, a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week during regular business hours is required.
Year-round availability is preferred.

As soon as possible.
What you will bring to this opportunity
Minimum high school degree or GED
Friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic computer skills (email, phone systems, Microsoft Office products, or data entry preferred)
Reliability, punctuality, and dependability
Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy environment
Comfort interacting with diverse populations
Prior experience working at a front desk is preferred but not required - training will be provided
No prior education in mental health, suicide prevention, domestic or sexual violence, counseling, or advocacy is required
Must be at least 18 years old
Must have access to reliable transportation
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
