Position Type:TRANSPORTATION/Transportation Service TechnicianDate Posted:6/26/2025Location:TransportationClosing Date:5/31/2026Job Title: Transportation Service TechnicianReports To: Immediate SupervisorPrepared By: The Division of Human ResourcesBoard Approved Date:Pay Grade Range: TRH04Summary: The Transportation Service Technician works with tools, equipment, and materials to support the EBRPSS Transportation Department.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:General knowledge of checking fluid levels, recognizing leaks and problems pertaining to the safe operation of school buses and other school board vehicles.Oversee and assist drivers with the fueling of buses and checking for fuel spillages.Checking tire pressures, fixing flat tires with plugs or patches.Replacing, breaking down, and remounting tires on the rims.Drive tire truck to do on the road tire repairs.Perform oil changes and do brake adjustmentsWash spare buses when assigned, dump trash from the mechanic shop and service station. Other Duties: Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.Essential Functions/Qualifications/Requirements:Repair brake and steering systems.Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems.Replace or repair transmissions and fuel components as needed.Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling.Perform emissions inspections, safety checks and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations.Maintain a clean, safe working environment.Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed.
