Part-Time Interactive Data Visualization Developer (HTML/SVG/JavaScript)
*100% remote. Part-time. Work on your own schedule.*
*About Stribe*
Stribe, Inc. is a veteran-owned creative and communications agency based in Northern Virginia. We build campaigns, publications, and digital tools for federal, state, and nonprofit clients, with a focus on public health and housing. We were recently awarded a multi-year contract with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to turn American Housing Survey data into public-facing fact sheets, and we are growing our team to deliver it.
*The role*
You will build interactive, web-based fact sheets that visualize housing data for 25 metro areas. The work is a single parameterized template (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG) that reads a JSON data file and renders charts for each metro. You will work directly with our lead designer and project manager, who will provide the visual design and the data. Your job is to make the design come to life in the browser, keep it accessible, and package it for delivery to the client.
This is hands-on development work. You will write the code yourself.
The role is fully remote and part-time. You choose when you work. We care about deadlines and quality, not when you log on. Most weeks you will have one short check-in with the project manager and the rest of your time is yours to manage.
*What you will do*
* Build responsive HTML/CSS/JavaScript pages that render SVG charts from JSON data
* Turn Figma or Adobe design files into pixel-accurate, working web pages
* Structure the code as one reusable template that switches between 25 metro areas
* Meet Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards, including keyboard navigation, screen reader support, and color contrast
* Test across browsers and devices
* Package deliverables (HTML, JS, CSS, SVG, JSON, readme) as a clean zip for the client's web team
* Support an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) with technical notes
* Make revisions based on client feedback
*What you need*
* 3+ years building interactive data visualizations for the web
* Strong vanilla JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and SVG
* Experience with D3.js or a similar charting library
* Working knowledge of Section 508 / WCAG accessibility for interactive content
* A portfolio of live, publicly accessible data visualizations you built yourself
* Clear written communication and the ability to meet deadlines while working independently
* Authorized to work in the United States
*Nice to have*
* Prior work for federal, state, or local government clients
* Experience with ACR / VPAT documentation
* Familiarity with Census or survey data
* Basic design sense and comfort working from a designer's mockups
*How to apply*
Submit your resume and links to at least three live data visualizations you built. Include a sentence for each describing what you personally coded.
*If you do not provide samples, your resume will not be looked at.* This is a hard requirement. We review portfolio links first and resumes second.
Finalists will complete a short paid trial task (about 4 hours) before an offer.
Stribe, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer. Veterans are encouraged to apply.
