Software Engineer 3Markon is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support the development, enhancement, and sustainment of mission-critical data processing and analysis capabilities for the Fort Meade Customer. This role focuses on software development, file system analysis, data extraction, and automation within Linux-based environments. The position requires expertise in Perl development, scripting, containerized applications, and the analysis of complex file structures to support operational and mission requirements.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain software applications and automation solutionsDevelop and enhance Object-Oriented Perl applications and supporting utilitiesCreate and maintain Bash scripts, command-line tools, and automated processing pipelinesAnalyze, parse, and extract data from a variety of file formats and file system structuresSupport file system mounting, extraction, and data recovery activities across multiple platformsDevelop and maintain Docker-based applications and containerized environmentsTroubleshoot software, file system, and data processing issuesCollaborate with engineers, analysts, and operational stakeholders to develop technical solutionsCreate and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and software artifactsSupport system integration, testing, deployment, and lifecycle maintenance activitiesQualificationsRequired QualificationsTS/SCI w/ active Polygraph with this CustomerBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field required20+ years of software engineering, software development, or related technical experienceExtensive experience with Object-Oriented Perl development requiredStrong experience developing Bash scripts and command-line processing pipelinesExperience with Docker and containerized application environmentsKnowledge of file system structures and techniques for mounting, extracting, and analyzing file systemsExperience analyzing and parsing a variety of file formats and data structuresExperience developing software in Linux environmentsStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExperience supporting data processing, automation, or mission-focused technical solutionsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced technical environmentSalary RangeUSD $240,000.00 - USD $250,000.00 /Yr. The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
