PLC Technician

SUMMARY: Design, develop, and test the manufacturing of electrical and mechanical equipment and processes such as motors, communication systems, HMI automation and controls, process valves and piping, instrumentation. Responsible for the programming of PLC’s and HMI’s and maintaining and revising code as necessary. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: PLC installation, extensive programming, troubleshooting for process system controls. Develops and performs operational maintenance and testing procedures for new and existing products, components, equipment, and systems. Assists in planning and scheduling tests to evaluate electrical equipment. Hands-on problem-solving, analysis, troubleshooting, and maintenance that will improve reliability, productivity, and decrease downtime on existing or new equipment. Provide resolution to mechanical and electrical problems of machinery by compiling and presenting data. Use hand tools and measuring instruments such as measuring probes, microcomputers, multimeters, potentiometers, embedded microcontroller electronics, circuit tester, power distribution. Maintain maintenance and calibration records for test equipment. Assist in the review of PLC needs for new projects and installation of new equipment. Prepare electrical drawings as required. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming using Rockwell Software, PLC installations and troubleshooting preferred. Experience with CAD software, such as AutoCAD. Experience with analytical software, such as PID. Detail orientated, with the ability to make sensitive adjustments on equipment. Strong communication and presentation skills (oral, written, and listening). Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance. Experience with Microsoft Office 365: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasional standing, walking, sitting, handling, reaching, climbing, crawling, squatting, kneeling, and bending. Occasional pushing/pulling and lifting/carrying, which can be accommodated. Regularly required to use hands to fingers, handle controls; and talk or hear. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
