Junior Software Test Engineer (Contract-to-Potential Hire)Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite 4 days/week)Duration: 3-Month ContractLevel: Engineer I / Engineer IIInterview Process: One round (virtual or onsite)Potential for Extension/Conversion: Yes, strong performers may be retained beyond the initial engagement.OverviewOur client is seeking a Junior Software Test Engineer to support a high-volume testing effort for mobile applications used in a regulated medical device environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer with a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related STEM background who enjoys hands-on testing and quality assurance.The primary focus of this role will be executing and validating thousands of test cases across connected medical device ecosystems that include mobile applications, cloud services, and hardware devices. The team needs additional support over the next three months to help accelerate testing efforts and maintain product quality.ResponsibilitiesExecute and document manual and automated test cases for mobile applications.Perform dry-runs and validation of large test suites consisting of thousands of test cases.Validate functionality across connected ecosystems including mobile apps, cloud platforms, and medical devices.Identify, document, and track defects through resolution.Work closely with software developers, QA engineers, and product teams to ensure quality requirements are met.Support regression, integration, and system testing activities.Assist with API and backend validation activities as needed.Contribute to test documentation and compliance requirements within a regulated environment.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or another STEM-related field.0-3 years of software testing, QA, validation, or test engineering experience.Experience testing mobile applications (iOS and/or Android).Understanding of software testing fundamentals and defect tracking.Strong attention to detail and ability to execute repetitive testing accurately.Ability to work onsite in San Diego four days per week.Preferred QualificationsExperience within medical device, healthcare technology, or other highly regulated environments.Familiarity with continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), connected health devices, pumps, or mobile health applications.Exposure to test automation tools such as:AppiumSeleniumExperience with:JavaPostmanProxymanUnderstanding of compliance-driven environments such as Medical Devices, Banking, Government, DoD, Aerospace, or other regulated industries.Desired BackgroundsCandidates from other regulated industries including Defense, Government, Financial Services, or Healthcare are also encouraged to apply.What Makes Someone SuccessfulStrong attention to detail and quality.Ability to execute high volumes of test cases with consistency.Comfort working in a structured, compliance-driven environment.Eagerness to learn testing tools and automation frameworks.Strong communication and collaboration skills.Compensation: $30-$40/hour
