BI Developer Epic
OverviewThe EPIC Business Intelligence Developer owns triaging analytics needs and building solutions within EPIC to meet those needs. This role designs and creates analytics solutions based on in-depth knowledge of operational systems with a level understanding system builds, end user workflows, and patterns of use. The ability to work alongside clinical and business leaders to understand their challenges while determining analytic solutions will play a key role in the success of driving areas forward. Additionally, this role supports leaders through education and use of EPIC's visualization tools and ongoing process development to create quality analytics for positive patient outcomes.ResponsibilitiesConfiguring and testing EPIC-released and Foundation System content for all applications, including, but not limited to; Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Radar, and Cogito SQLCreating content to display EPIC data from Chronicles, Clarity, and CaboodleWriting SQL and configuring Radar settings for custom SQL metricsModifying existing reports, as necessaryDistributing analytics content to data consumersReviewing peer reports for validityWorking with subject matter experts to understand the needs of data consumersTesting analytics build in a specified testing environment and volume testing in live environmentsReviewing upgrade documentation related to Cogito features and determining how to implement the changesBuilding and maintaining processes and programs including, but not limited to; Cubes, extracts, SlicerDicer custom filters, third-party business intelligence tools, and EPIC data in CaboodleMinimum Education/Work Experience2+ years relevant experienceStrong communication skillsHigh level of critical thinking and analysisUser-focused design and data visualization skillsProficiency with SQL and relational database conceptsProficiency and demonstrated experience with analytics toolsAbility to gain an in-depth understanding of the data model through data model classes geared toward content areasPreferred QualificationsA degree in engineering, physics, computer sciences, math, information systems, or statisticsCertified in Cogito Fundamentals and Cogito Tools AdministrationCertified in at least one Epic data model that they supportStudied or trained in the Epic application fundamentals for their areas of responsibilityFamiliarity with content available for the applications they are working withTrained in Cogito SQL, SQL metrics, and SlicerDicer custom filtersExperience writing analytical reports with Clarity and Caboodle dataCertified in Epic applications relevant to their areas of responsibilityCertified and proficient in multiple Epic data modelsHighly skilled in SQL structures and conceptsFor financial reporting: Prior experience working with an AR systemFor clinical reporting: Prior experience working with an EMR systemKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAbility to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functionsAbility to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned aboveCompensation & BenefitsCompensation: Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation such as the requirements of the position, experience, education, knowledge, and skills along with location and internal equity.
