Quality Assurance EngineerLocation: Ipswich, MA (Local Candidates Only)Job Type: Full-Time | Direct HireLocation Type: On-SiteTop job functions:Ensure product and process quality across machining, fabrication, welding, inspection, and final assemblyReview customer specifications, engineering documentation, and supplier quality records to confirm complianceInvestigate nonconformances, support audits, and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement, KPI metrics.Industry focus ( prefer): Heavy mechanical manufacturingCNC machining and fabricated metal componentsPressure vessels and industrial equipmentThe Quality Assurance Engineer supports and oversees the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for materials, components, and finished products in a heavy manufacturing environment. This role is well suited for a quality professional with experience in large industrial equipment, CNC-machined parts, heavy metal fabrication, or pressure vessel manufacturing.The ideal candidate brings a hands-on understanding of manufacturing quality and can work cross-functionally with engineering, production, assembly, shipping, and suppliers to ensure products meet customer, industry, and internal requirements. When quality issues arise, this individual will analyze root causes, recommend corrective actions, and help implement long-term solutions that improve performance, compliance, and customer satisfaction.Key responsibilities include:Review customer purchase orders, specifications, and engineering design documents to determine quality and compliance requirementsDevelop, implement, and maintain methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation of materials and finished productsParticipate in customer audits, third-party audits, supplier evaluations, and internal quality reviewsSupport Material Review Board activities and assist in the disposition of nonconforming materials or productsReview and approve supplier quality procedures and certified material test reports for compliance with applicable ASME/ANSI requirementsAnalyze quality reports, returned products, and manufacturing concerns, then recommend corrective and preventive actionsInterface with shop floor personnel and inspectors involved in measuring, testing, machining, welding, NDE, and related manufacturing processesAttend cross-functional meetings with sales, manufacturing, assembly, and shipping to address product quality concerns and recommend solutionsSupport continuous improvement efforts related to product quality, supplier quality, process control, and overall operational performanceComplete additional company-related projects and assignments as neededFollow all company policies, procedures, work instructions, environmental requirements, and safety standardsPreferred qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience3+ years of relevant quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environmentBackground in heavy mechanical industry, large industrial equipment, CNC machining, heavy metal parts, or pressure vessel manufacturing strongly preferredWorking knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, NDE, materials, testing, and weldingAbility to interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications, and technical documentationStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsExperience supporting audits, supplier quality activities, and corrective action processes is preferredEOE
