Apply via Dice today!Job Title: Expert IT Specialist / Desktop EngineerLocation: Albany, NY (Day 1 Onsite)Duration: 30+ Months ContractInterview: Face-to-Face (Mandatory)Position SummaryThe Department of Financial Services is seeking an experienced Desktop Engineer/IT Specialist to support enterprise desktop infrastructure, endpoint management, security compliance, and end-user computing services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Windows desktop engineering, Active Directory, PowerShell scripting, endpoint security, imaging, deployment, and enterprise troubleshooting in large-scale environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise desktop solutions.Manage Windows operating system deployments, upgrades, and lifecycle management.Create and maintain desktop images, software packages, and deployment processes.Administer Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and user management.Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for automation and administration.Support endpoint security solutions including antivirus, encryption, PKI, and security hardening.Troubleshoot complex desktop, network, VPN, and authentication issues.Manage mobile devices and enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions.Support hardware deployment, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management.Implement cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards.Research, analyze, plan, and implement desktop engineering initiatives.Provide advanced technical support and problem resolution for end users.Handle multiple concurrent priorities including deployments, user support, troubleshooting, and operational tasks.Required Experience7+ years (84 Months) of Desktop Engineering experience.7+ years of experience supporting Windows 7 and Windows 10 environments.7+ years of experience with desktop design, build, testing, and troubleshooting.7+ years of experience administering Active Directory and Group Policy.7+ years of experience with Windows image deployment and software package management.7+ years of PowerShell scripting experience.7+ years of experience with endpoint security technologies including:Antivirus SolutionsPKI (Public Key Infrastructure)Hard Drive EncryptionEndpoint Security Hardening7+ years of networking experience including:DHCPVLANsACLsFirewalls7+ years of experience supporting VPN and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA/2FA).7+ years of Active Directory administration and management experience.7+ years of cybersecurity and compliance experience.7+ years of experience supporting Intel-based workstation hardware.7+ years of Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience.7+ years of experience handling multiple simultaneous support and engineering tasks.7+ years of experience in technical research, planning, analysis, and implementation.Technical SkillsWindows 7 / Windows 10Desktop EngineeringActive DirectoryGroup Policy (GPO)PowerShell ScriptingSCCM / Endpoint ManagementWindows Imaging & DeploymentMobile Device Management (MDM)VPN SupportMulti-Factor Authentication (MFA)PKIEndpoint SecurityDisk EncryptionDHCP, VLANs, ACLsFirewall TechnologiesCybersecurity ComplianceHardware Support & DeploymentPreferred Candidate ProfileStrong enterprise desktop engineering background.Experience working in large government or regulated environments.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and documentation skills.Comfortable working onsite and participating in face-to-face interviews.Note: Candidates must provide all required documentation and references at the time of submission.
