If you're passionate about making a difference and thrive in a collaborative setting, New Bridge Medical Center is looking for a Speech Pathologist.Job DutiesAssessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with a knowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the ages of the patients served.Evaluates clients/patients and determines causal factors for speech, language and/or hearing impairments; gathers data related to patient's disorder, selects appropriate evaluation tool(s) for the purpose of assessment. Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of the patient's impairment and the prognosis for improvement.Develops individualized treatment programs for patients diagnosed as needing speech or language intervention. Develops and maintains long- and short-term treatment objectives for each patient. Re-evaluates and modifies treatment programs as warranted.Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress notes and other such reports. Completes reports according to facility policy and updates the Rehabilitation Director on daily caseload and status of prior screens/evaluations.Communicates observations, facts and comments with interdisciplinary team members, individually, and through team meetings.Maintains adequate caseload; participates in statistical and clinical research programs as directed.Maintains ongoing communications and recommendations with family and referral sources, (e.g. physician, school, etc.) regarding evaluation, treatment and patient progress.Responsible for participating in the Performance Improvement program to meet all current Joint Commission guidelines.Understands and adheres to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct.Familiar with the Medical Center's Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Other job duties include providing graduate student supervision as directed, assisting in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies, assisting in selection of diagnostic and treatment supplies, equipment and materials, providing input regarding departmental goals, policies and procedures, participating in marketing program, as requested, to enhance awareness in the service area, developing relationships with community agencies, groups, professional affiliations, etc. for patient and family referral, assisting in referring patients and families to appropriate services and resources, enhancing professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature review, workshops, etc. Presenting in-service programs to nursing and clinical care staff as need arises, and performing other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.Basic CompetenciesEducation Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, New Jersey State license in Speech-Language Pathology. Minimum of Heart Saver Certification required.Experience At least 1 year's experience; Clinical Fellowship Year considered.Skills Good oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.Job Setting/Physical Demands Acute hospital, OPD treatment area, Behavioral Health. Mostly sedentary work.Salary commensurate with experience within posted range.
