Senior Project EngineerAs the Senior Project Engineer you will support the company's mission of engineering and constructing solar, storage, and EVSE projects. The SPE is responsible for managing all engineering aspects of commercial solar, storage, and EVSE opportunities from notice to proceed through construction and close out. Projects are typically between 500 kW and 10 MW in size. The position serves both the behind the meter and front of the meter projects. The SPE will be a key player in technical development and engineering, and be a self-starting, creative, and motivated individual who has a proven history of successfully building complex projects.PowerFlex, an EDF power solutions company, is a leading national provider of intelligent onsite energy solutions that support cost-effective and low-carbon electrification and transportation. PowerFlex is a top 5 provider in each of Commercial Solar, Storage and EV Charging in the US.Responsibilities75% - Project ExecutionWork with project team (internal project manager and coordinator, engineering, and third-party consultants) to manage engineering scope of a project, from site due-diligence and permitting activities to construction and commissioning activitiesEnsure compliance with and continuity between Project Agreements (EPC, PPA, Leases, Interconnection Agreements) by effectively managing engineering firms and equipment vendors, and ensuring that the project as described in permit plans and contracts remains technically and economically feasible.Manage consultant solicitations for project specific requirements (e.g., relays, wetlands, civil, zoning, etc.) and manage consultant contracts throughout project executionOversee cadence with customer during design phase and construction phaseOrganize design package with Engineering firmsManage equipment procurement process and ensure cost-effectiveness of technical solutionMaintain equipment and engineering vendor relationsMaintain project budget and track cost changes throughout projectPerform inspections during the installation processManage utility commissioning and testingCollaborate with Operations and Maintenance Group, and Asset Management team for project close out and handoff25% - Technical ReviewSupport the due diligence and review of energy storage, microgrid, PV and EVSE design applications to value engineer, ensure compliance, risk reduction, and design optimization.Provide support for evaluation of third-party designs and controls schemesWork with equipment vendors to ensure hardware, communications, and software platform meets customer, permitting and all technical requirementsContribute to Design best practices and technical offerings that can be applied to different geographies and use casesOverall project design and validationQualificationsEducation/ExperienceBachelor's degree: Electrical Engineering Preferred, other Engineering or STEM degree3-5+ years of experience in Solar or BESS system design/project engineeringExperience with medium and high voltage equipment preferredExperience with EVSE a plusSkills/Knowledge/AbilitiesWorking knowledge of National Building & Electrical Code as it pertains to energy storage, photovoltaic and EVSEWorking knowledge of SCADA/relay/curtailment systemsAbility to articulate complex issues through succinct, cohesive summaries and presentationsPossess a diplomatic, persuasive, and articulate communication styleAbility to work well in a team environment with proven attention to detailWillingness to embrace and defend a culture of respect, communication, and accountabilityAbility to travel periodically to job sitesCompensationThe pay range for this position is $128,610 - $157,190 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position. Physical Requirements Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.Working ConditionsApproximately 80% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. Possibly 20% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites.
