NYS 19-A Examiner / Driver Compliance SpecialistLocation: Brooklyn, NYJob Type: Full-TimePay: From $82,000 per yearCompany: First StudentAbout The RoleFirst Student is hiring a NYS 19-A Examiner / Driver Compliance Specialist to support driver qualification, safety compliance, training, testing, and regulatory documentation for our transportation operations.This role is responsible for ensuring drivers remain fully compliant with New York State DMV Article 19-A, SED, and NYC DOE requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, comfortable working with drivers and managers, and experienced in a regulated transportation or school bus environment.What You'll DoAs the Driver Compliance Specialist, you will help maintain safe, compliant, and efficient transportation operations by managing driver compliance requirements at the location level.Responsibilities include:Serve as a certified NYS 19-A ExaminerConduct required pre-employment, annual, and biennial driver qualification reviewsAdminister required driver testing, evaluations, and compliance checksTrain and evaluate drivers on safe driving procedures and regulatory requirementsMaintain compliance with NYS DMV, SED, and NYC DOE requirementsManage driver qualification files and ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and currentMonitor driver compliance status and follow up on missing or expired documentationSupport audits, inspections, regulatory reviews, and corrective action processesMaintain contract compliance and ensure adherence to legal and operational requirementsPrepare compliance reports, schedules, management reports, and official correspondenceEnter, update, and retrieve data from fleet and compliance management systemsCommunicate with drivers, monitors, managers, customers, vendors, and internal departmentsSupport additional safety, compliance, and operational needs as requiredRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentValid NYS 19-A Examiner LicenseMinimum of 2 years of administrative, office, compliance, transportation, or operations experienceStrong computer skills, including Microsoft OfficeAbility to maintain accurate records and confidential informationStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent attention to detail and follow-up skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPreferred QualificationsSBDI certification strongly preferredExperience in school transportation, driver compliance, safety training, or regulated transportation operationsExperience working with NYS DMV, SED, or NYC DOE compliance requirementsExperience using fleet, compliance, HR, or driver management systemsWork EnvironmentThis position requires the ability to work in an office and transportation facility environment.
