Job Description POSITION SUMMARY:This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Fund Development Associate serves on the CEO's senior leadership team and provides strategic leadership support in financial and fund development to advance the YMCAs mission through annual giving, government and foundation grants, endowment bequests and gifts and capital campaigns. The Fund Development Associate assists the CEO in developing an actively engaged fundraising volunteer board of directors and positions the Y as a community convener and collaborator to address critical social issues. This position strategically assist in the planning of all aspects of the Y's marketing, public relations, fundraising and capital development initiatives. Development of an organizational fund development strategic plan that includes fundraising, prospect development, donor cultivation and engagement while balancing long-term direction and short-term requirements. Develops systems and manages resources, including the financial development budget needed to carry out the fundraising plans. Develops appropriate fundraising policies and procedures for the Association.2. Develops processes and is actively involved in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects. Maintains database resource file on donors, prospects and top community leaders.3. Directs and coordinates association capital development, annual campaign and endowment programs.4. Prepares and coordinates proposals for grants from government sources and private foundations.5. Actively engages the board in challenging conversations and decision making to advance the Y's impact when serving as the primary staff liaison to the Financial Development Committee and other assigned committees on the Board of Directors.6. Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels of financial development.7. Tracks all gifts and pledges by source and purpose and provides reports as needed.8. Provides training in fundraising. Educates, motivates and provides feedback to individuals related to best practices in the fundraising process.9. Develops annual fundraising and grant initiative goals, objectives, strategies and plans for marketing. Monitors the achievement of this plan, taking appropriate action to ensure that the goals and objectives are met.10. Works with the CEO and other members of the Team to creates, distributes a compelling fund development message and strategy (i.e. case for support) and communicates this message to the YMCA Team and Community that inspire them to accomplish the mission and cause with maximum impact.11. Lends support to any other area of Development, as needed.12. Performs other duties as assigned by the CEO,13. Participates in meetings, groups, coalition, etc. that leverages and expands the YMCA of Paterson's cause, purpose and brand.14. Initiates and leads in Y activities, such as committees, special events, Healthy Kids Day and Annual Campaign and other fund development youth development and food related events,15. Create a Donor base QUALIFICATIONS:· Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent; Master's degree preferred.· YMCA Organizational Leader certification preferred.· Five or more years of professional experience with a background in fundraising in the YMCA or another· non-profit preferred.· Ability to relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic· segments of the community.· Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.· Ability to create interpretive materials to enable potential donors to understand the YMCA and how they· contribute to the achievement of its mission.· Knowledge of the media and its use in gaining exposure for YMCA events and programs.· Foundation and government grant writing expertise.· CFRE or equivalent preferred.
