DescriptionJob Description: Mountain Biking CoachDivision: Telos AcademyTime commitment: Seasonal, weekend availability.Reports to: Athletics CoordinatorPay: StipendA Telos Academy mountain biking coach helps instruct and train students with seasonal mountain biking. A coach works directly with the academic team to instruct, evaluate, encourage, monitor, and record the progress of individual students. They devise and adapt resources to suit the specific learning styles and needs of each student.Instructs, teaches, and guides students during activities.Holds highest priority for safetyMonitors student progress by training, giving appropriate feedback, and maintaining records of each student’ progress and developmentCoordinates and reports students’ progress to teachers and academic advisersReports progress on individual student assistance as necessaryCreates an athletic working environment for studentsSelects and uses a range of different learning resources and equipment guided by the teacherCompletes employment certifications and classes such as CPR, 1st Aid, Processing Training, TB Tests, Restraint Training, etc.RequirementsA basic understanding of the Telos student populationA love of physical activity and trainingA desire to train for triathlons with the studentsKnowledge of physical education and athletic trainingAbility to direct the classAbility to hold and maintain discipline within the academic settingFlexibility & CreativityA love of working with and teaching adolescentsA positive attitudeA desire to be a team playerAbility to demonstrate proper technique.Prior biking experience
