Economic Support Specialists
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Determination of initial and continued eligibility forEconomic Support programs, which includes the following: Providesinformation about public assistance programs and eligibility toapplicants, recipients and the general public. Conducts interactiveinterviews with applicants and recipients to determine initial andcontinued eligibility for public assistance programs. Assesses financialneed and issues appropriate level of benefits per individual programpolicy. Provides information and referrals, when appropriate, foradditional assistance with specific needs. Monitors state systems foraccuracy of calculations and determination decisions and makes necessarycorrections when errors occur. Processes changes to cases according toindividual program policy. Verifies and documents client informationaccording to individual program policy. Informs of and encouragesFoodShare recipients to volunteer for the FoodShare Employment andTraining Program and makes referrals for clients choosing to do so. Usesa variety of local, state and federal computer systems, including CARES,CARES Worker Web, KIDS, ForwardHealth interChange, CSAW/CCPI, SAVES, AVSIntegrimatch, and Electronic Case File. Provides technical assistance,consultation, and collateral contact to other county agencies or humanservice agencies. Investigates discrepant information in clientcircumstances discovered through data exchange sources available,including wage records, Unemployment Insurance data, Social Securitydata, prisoner data, and out-of-state EBT usage reports. Collectsinformation necessary to resolve discrepancies, determines if benefitissuance errors have occurred, and makes referrals for benefit recoverywhen appropriate. Refers cases for front end verification, fraudinvestigation, or legal disposition as necessary. Identifies errors inbenefit issuance and takes appropriate action to reconcile the errorsper individual program policy. Prepares responses to Division ofHearings and Appeals related to fair hearing requests, providessupporting documentation to Division of Hearings and Appeals andapplicants/recipients, and represents agency at fair hearings.Represents the agency in legal proceedings and gives necessarytestimony. Fields calls from applicants, recipients and the generalpublic through the Consortium Call Center and provides both general andcase-specific information regarding public assistance benefits.\*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Two years post-secondaryeducation in related human services field preferred. One yearexperiencing record keeping, documentation, reporting, or bookkeepingRequired.
