Senior Mechanical Estimator – HVAC / Plumbing / Piping ConstructionLocation: New York City, NYCompensation: $125,000 – $175,000 Base Salary + Performance Bonus (DOE)About the OpportunityA large mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join its growing New York operations team. This position will lead preconstruction efforts and drive estimating strategy for complex mechanical construction projects across the NYC market, supporting pursuits from conceptual planning through final bid submission and negotiated work.This role is ideal for an estimator with strong experience in commercial, high-rise, healthcare, mission-critical, infrastructure, and large-scale building projects who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys collaborating directly with operations and executive leadership teams.Responsibilities:Lead complete estimating efforts for mechanical construction pursuits including HVAC, plumbing, process piping, and related systemsReview design drawings, specifications, and contract documents to establish project scope and risk exposureDevelop conceptual budgets, ROM estimates, GMP pricing packages, and detailed hard-bid estimatesCoordinate subcontractor/vendor outreach and perform scope leveling and bid analysisPrepare quantity takeoffs, labor projections, equipment costs, and pricing strategiesPartner with operations teams to develop execution plans and preconstruction schedulesIdentify value engineering solutions and constructability improvements during design phasesParticipate in client meetings, proposal presentations, and pre-award discussionsMaintain estimating standards, historical cost data, and market pricing trendsSupport transition of awarded projects into operations through turnover and planning meetingsPreferred Background4+ years of mechanical estimating experience within the construction industryExperience supporting large commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, data center, institutional, high-rise, or industrial projectsStrong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water piping, plumbing, sheet metal, and mechanical equipment installationsProven success managing estimates ranging from $5M–$100M+ project values preferredExperience working with NYC building environments, union labor considerations, and complex project delivery methods is highly desirableProficiency with estimating and takeoff tools such as Accubid, FastPIPE, FastDUCT, Bluebeam, Trimble, or equivalent platformsStrong communication, planning, and leadership skillsBenefits Include:✔ Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance✔ 401(k) Match Program✔ Paid Time Off & Holidays✔ Bonus Potential✔ Career Advancement Opportunities✔ Long-Term Project Pipeline StabilityWhy Consider This Opportunity?Strong backlog of NYC commercial and mission-critical projectsExposure to high-profile developments and technically complex buildsCollaborative leadership team with strong preconstruction supportOpportunity to play a key role in strategic growth and major project pursuitsStable contractor with continued expansion across the New York market
