Position Overview
The Extrusion Supervisor plays a key leadership role in overseeing Extrusion Coating, Liquid Coating, and Converting operations. This position is responsible for driving daily production performance, leading and developing operators, troubleshooting issues in real time, and ensuring safety, quality, and customer commitments are met.
This is an ideal role for a floor-focused, problem-solving manufacturing leader who enjoys optimizing processes, improving throughput, and leading teams in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate daily production activities across extrusion, coating, and converting operations
Analyze work orders and production schedules to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of labor and equipment
Plan material flow and machine layout to optimize productivity and minimize downtime
Ensure adequate raw materials and supplies are available to support production schedules
Interpret specifications, job orders, and process requirements and communicate them clearly to operators
Monitor product quality and verify conformance to specifications through inspections and measurements
Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, guiding operators on adjustments and corrective actions
Adjust work procedures and staffing as needed to meet production goals
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, safety, cost, and cycle time reduction
Recommend and support capital equipment investments and process technology improvements
Maintain accurate production, labor, and performance records
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and leadership to meet customer deadlines
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
Perform additional duties as needed to support operational success
Qualifications & Experience
Associate’s degree in Manufacturing or a related field preferred
3+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
5+ years of experience in plastics, extrusion, or related processes
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands
Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities in a production setting
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Comfortable working cross-functionally with operators, leadership, and vendors
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
Able to work independently while also being a strong team contributor
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
