Cloud Architect
OverviewAMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training.The Cloud Architect will support the Naval Criminal Investigative Service Digital Business Directorate by leading the design implementation and sustainment of secure enterprise cloud solutions supporting mission critical law enforcement counterterrorism andcounterintelligence operations worldwide. This role is central to NCIS transition from on premises infrastructure to a Department of the Navy established virtual private cloud hosted on Flank speed Microsoft Azure.The Cloud Architect will collaborate closely with government and contractor stakeholders to ensure secure scalable and compliant cloud architectures across unclassified and classified domains while maintaining uninterrupted operations during the multi-year cloudmigration. This position requires deep expertise in cloud architecture cybersecurity integration enterprise IT modernization and Department of Defense compliance frameworks.Architect and design secure cloud solutions within a Department of the Navy virtual private cloud hosted on Microsoft Azure Flank speedLead planning and execution of migration from on premises systems to cloud environments while ensuring continuity of mission operationsDevelop cloud architectures supporting NIPR SIPR and JWICS domains in coordination with government stakeholdersDesign and maintain cloud networking identity access management storage and compute architectures aligned with Zero Trust principlesIntegrate cybersecurity controls in accordance with Risk Management FrameworkNIST Intelligence Community Directive and Department of Defense policiesSupport Assessment and Authorization activities including development of system security plans security assessment reports and plans of action and milestonesCoordinate with enterprise architects cybersecurity teams application developers and operations teams to ensure interoperable and secure cloud servicesSupport cloud cost modeling usage tracking and optimization to meet government financial management requirementsDevelop and maintain technical documentation including architecture diagrams system designs and standard operating proceduresProvide guidance on cloud best practices automation scalability disaster recovery and high availabilitySupport transition activities ensuring required cloud skill sets are available throughout the contract lifecycleWhat's In It For YouBachelor degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering or related field or equivalent experience Top Secret with eligibility for SCI read‑on prior to startMinimum eight years of enterprise IT experience with at least five years in cloud architecture and engineering rolesDemonstrated experience designing and supporting enterprise cloud environments within government or highly regulated organizationsExperience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense organizationsExtensive experience architecting solutions in Microsoft Azure enterprise environmentsExperience supporting hybrid cloud architectures integrating on premises and cloud systemsStrong knowledge of cloud networking identity management security logging monitoring and automationExperience with cloud native services supporting collaboration application hosting and data platformsFamiliarity with Microsoft 365 cloud services including Outlook SharePoint Online Teams PowerApps and InTuneStrong documentation and communication skills supporting technical and non technical stakeholdersExperience coordinating with government program offices cybersecurity officials and operational teamsAbility to adapt quickly to evolving mission requirements and technical environmentsExperience supporting global enterprise environments including CONUS and OCONUS locationsPreferred ExperienceExperience with DoN, DoD, or LE application environments is preferred. CertificationsIAT II per the DoD 8140 or DoD 8570; requires a minimum of Security Plus certification or equivalent. Cloud related certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent
