We are a private, nonprofit Community Action Agency committed to our mission of “creating opportunities for people and communities to reduce poverty and increase self-sufficiency.” Bus Driver - Head Start—Fond du Lac ADVOCAP’s Head Start program is accepting applications for a Bus Driver for our 2024/2025 program year! ADVOCAP’s Head Start program prepares children ages 3-5 with quality early childhood education in Fond du Lac and Green Lake counties. We help families reach financial, career, and educational goals, while building resilience and confidence for the entire family. This position will need to have a welcoming and friendly personality to ensure comfortability in working with kids and families that align with our core mission and values for all employees. The position will provide safe transportation by driving a minibus for children ages 3-5 to and from various locations in the Fond du Lac area. This position will aid in the classrooms and kitchen as needed. Responsibilities Include: Complete necessary documentation/record keeping as required by Supervisor and HS Follow transportation regulations enacted by HS & the State & Federal Transportation Boards concerning the health and safety of children Assist in the preparation of bus routes & adhere to fixed route Provide transportation to educational, medical field trips & other extra or special assignment trips Receive phone calls from parents, or contact parents via the phone as needed Monitor the safe operation and cleanliness of the bus Communicate positively & effectively Ensure that no one enters the bus other than yourself, bus monitor & children Promptness is required Enforce conduct and safety rules on the bus Ensure your availability to work early morning and later evening hours as well as occasional Fridays and weekends. Job Requirements: High school degree or GED/HSED and 12—18 months of previous related work experience Must be able to work a flexible schedule of possibly varying duties at various locations in the Fond du Lac area Completion of internal training modules, skill-level programs, or other training/programs Possess or will obtain within the first 90 days of employment CDL with bus endorsement. 50%+ of time on the job spent traveling using an Agency and/or personal vehicle. Must pass driving criteria per Agency insurance carrier as well as DOT regulations to be hired and to maintain employment. Valid driver’s license required. CPR certified or willing to obtain Physical/tb/drug screen and comprehensive background check required Reliable attendance and a professional work ethic Salary and Benefits: This full-time position will begin mid to late August and will work 36 hours per week, Monday—Thursday with occasional Fridays and weekends. Starting pay is $15.00 per hour. This full-time position will have access to health, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability, vacation, sick and holiday pay, and our employer contribution 401k.
