CNC Machinist CNC Machinist Position Overview We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to program, set up, and operate CNC milling and turning centers to produce precision parts to print. The role focuses on translating engineering drawings into efficient CNC programs using CAM software, ensuring parts meet dimensional and surface quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement of machining processes. Key Responsibilities Program and edit CNC programs for mills and lathes using CAM software and machine controls. Set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces; perform first-article setups and run production batches. Operate CNC milling machines and lathes to produce parts to print tolerances and surface finish requirements. Verify dimensions and quality using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM when applicable) and document inspection results. Troubleshoot machining issues, optimize tool paths and cutting parameters to improve cycle time and part quality. Maintain machine housekeeping and perform routine maintenance to ensure safe, reliable equipment operation. Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions; communicate effectively with engineers and production teams. Follow safety procedures and promote continuous improvement by suggesting process, tooling, or program enhancements. Qualifications 2+ years of experience operating and setting up CNC mills and lathes (or equivalent vocational training). Proficiency with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Siemens NX) for generating and editing CNC programs. Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds, and cutting strategies for both milling and turning. Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T principles to ensure parts meet specifications. Experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) and basic familiarity with CMMs preferred. Good troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and safety. High school diploma or technical certificate in machining, manufacturing technology, or related field preferred.
