Principal Software Developer Engineer
Overview
As a Principal Software Developer Engineer, you will advance FortiSwitch software, delivering features for the FortiSwitch VM and Marvell CPSS SDK work. You’ll fix bugs in current products and ensure high-quality, on-schedule software delivery. You will collaborate with hardware teams and communicate clearly to translate requirements into robust networking features. This role offers impact across a scalable, security-focused product line and a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

Key requirements12+ years of networking software development experienceB.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering; M.S. preferredStrong C/C++ in Unix/LinuxSolid Linux kernel programming knowledge (system calls and drivers)Experience with Marvell switching ASICs and SDKs in Ethernet switches/routersExperience with virtualization environments (KVM and VMware)Multithread/multiprocess programming experienceKnowledge of L2/L3 features (STP, RSTP, RIP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, LACP, LLDP, QoS, Private VLAN, LAG)Knowledge of TCP/IP, firewalls, switching and routingFamiliarity with installations, configurations, and troubleshootingUnderstanding of QA procedures and software development fundamentalsScripting: Shell and Python a plusFirewall and embedded systems experience a plusLinux kernel and driver development knowledge a plusUS citizenship requiredEffective verbal and written communicationTeam collaboration with hardware and cross-functional teamsDesire for continuous learning and innovationC/C++ in Unix/LinuxLinux kernel programming and device driversMarvell CPSS SDKs and Ethernet switching experience
