DescriptionNow Hiring: Teachers - Summer School Age Camp Program StaffPay Range: $21.00 - $22.00 per hourStatus: Temporary (Summer Position - Starts June 1, and Ends August 2026)Location: YWCA Downtown and South Minneapolis, and MidtownWe're looking for Teachers!At YWCA Minneapolis, our early childhood classrooms are rooted in anti-bias education and care. As a Teacher 1, you'll help design safe, inclusive, developmentally appropriate environments for young learners while partnering with families and supporting your classroom team.What You'll DoDevelop and implement age-appropriate curriculum using YWCA's anti-bias and "We Care" approachSupervise children at all times; maintain accurate attendance recordsFoster a safe, nurturing, and culturally responsive environmentAssess and document children's developmental progress across domainsModel and encourage cultural sensitivity with children and familiesEnsure compliance with DHS Rule 3, NAEYC, Parent Aware, and CACFP standardsMaintain current emergency procedures and child portfoliosCo-lead parent-teacher conferences and contribute to behavioral management plansCollaborate with center teams to support classroom and program needsAttend staff training days and fulfill in-service requirementsClassroom & Organizational ResponsibilitiesSubmit lesson plans biweekly and ensure materials are preparedClearly communicate with families using approved channels (e.g., ProCare, YWCA email)Notify leadership of curriculum or equipment needsProvide support across classrooms and serve as a backup as neededDemonstrate punctuality and readiness at shift startCore CompetenciesOrganizationDelivers well-planned lessons with clear structure and routineMaintains safe and inviting classroom environmentsCommunicationExplains expectations to children clearlyActively listens and builds trust with families and staffHandles sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentialityClassroom ManagementImplements routines and transitions that foster positive behaviorEfficiently manages classroom time and communication needsLesson PlanningDevelops adaptable, developmentally appropriate activitiesDemonstrates understanding of early childhood milestonesBehavioral ManagementApplies positive reinforcement strategiesDocuments behaviors and supports individualized behavior plansRecordkeepingMaintains attendance logs and developmental assessments accuratelySupports NAEYC portfolio upkeep and compliance standardsChild DevelopmentPlans curriculum that nurtures all developmental domainsIdentifies concerns or delays proactivelyHealth and SafetyCPR and First Aid certified; practices safety protocols regularlyEnsures children's physical and emotional well-beingTechnology & TrainingUses ECE software as neededMaintains all required certifications and in-service hoursEmotional IntelligenceDemonstrates empathy, patience, and judgmentWelcomes feedback and uses mistakes as learning opportunitiesCollaboration & TeamworkWorks effectively with other ECE staff to meet classroom goalsBuilds respectful, supportive relationshipsWho You AreWarm, organized, and passionate about early educationCommitted to inclusive, culturally responsive teachingReliable, communicative, and collaborativeRequirementsRequired:1+ year of experience in Early Childhood EducationMeet Minnesota DHS Rule 3 Teacher qualificationsStrong written and verbal communication skillsCPR and First Aid certificationsPreferred:AA or BA in Child Development or Early Childhood Education (variances may apply)Working Conditions & Physical DemandsRegular movement: kneeling, standing, lifting up to 50 lbsRequires physical activity, visual acuity, and engagement in loud environmentsMust travel occasionally within the metro areaHours may vary based on center and association needsWhy YWCA Minneapolis?When you work here, you're joining a movement.
