PositionSite Safety & Health Officer (SSHO), Byram Township, NJPosted: 03/06/2026Summary of Job DescriptionThe Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing the project-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Site Safety and Health Plan (SSHP) for environmental remediation activities involving hazardous soil excavation and handling, site clearing and grubbing, underground utility installation, and construction of treatment facilities. The SSHO ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, USACE EM 385-1-1, and applicable federal, state, and local environmental and safety requirements while coordinating closely with the project manager, superintendent, and subcontractors to identify hazards and implement effective controls. Duties include conducting daily safety inspections, leading safety briefings and Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) reviews, overseeing air monitoring and exposure assessments for hazardous substances, verifying proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining site safety documentation.
