Job Title: Construction Superintendent – Interior RenovationsJob DescriptionThis role leads day-to-day construction activities in the field for interior renovation and fit-out projects. The Construction Superintendent coordinates scheduling, subcontractors, materials, and documentation while supporting project administration tasks such as invoicing, contracts, and permits. You will work closely with a small project team and leadership, gaining direct exposure to high-profile commercial clients.ResponsibilitiesOversee all day-to-day construction activities in the field for commercial interior renovation and fit-out projects.Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules to ensure work progresses according to plan and milestones.Coordinate and manage subcontractors on site, including scheduling, work sequencing, and resolving field issues.Order and schedule materials to ensure timely delivery and availability for all phases of construction.Manage and track permits, ensuring all required approvals are obtained and maintained throughout the project.Monitor project budgets at the field level, helping to control costs and identify potential overruns early.Assist with processing project paperwork, including invoices, change orders, and related documentation.Prepare and maintain accurate meeting minutes for project and site meetings, documenting decisions and action items.Support the preparation, review, and management of owner contracts and related contractual documents.Obtain and track Certificates of Insurance (COIs) from subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance.Review and work from construction documents, drawings, and specifications to guide field operations.Manage and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) in coordination with the project management team.Oversee submittals and ensure construction activities align with approved submittals and construction documentation.Ensure that all work meets quality standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.Collaborate closely with the project management and leadership teams to communicate progress, issues, and solutions.Essential SkillsProven experience as a Superintendent or in a similar field leadership role on construction projects.Hands-on experience with commercial construction, specifically interior renovations and interior fit-out projects.Strong construction management skills, including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and field supervision.Ability to read, interpret, and work from construction documents, drawings, and specifications.Proficiency in managing construction documentation, including RFIs, change orders, and submittals.Solid understanding of commercial construction processes, sequencing, and building systems.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks such as permits, materials, and paperwork simultaneously.Effective communication skills for working with subcontractors, project teams, and clients.Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records, meeting minutes, and project documentation.Additional Skills & QualificationsHistory in construction management or a related field.Experience overseeing interior renovation projects as a Superintendent.Familiarity with budgeting and cost awareness at the field level.Comfort working closely with leadership teams and high-profile clients.Ability to contribute to owner contract administration and documentation.Strong problem-solving skills for resolving field issues quickly and effectively.Work EnvironmentThis is a full-time, field-based role located in Beltsville, MD. Work takes place primarily on active construction job sites, with day-to-day activities carried out from a site trailer or site office. You will collaborate with a small, tight-knit project team and interact directly with the leadership team, offering significant visibility and influence on project outcomes.
