Job Summary
Our Food Service Worker play an important role in enhancing the patient experience by providing high-quality meal service directly at the bedside. Through our Expressly for You patient dining program, each patient is assigned a dedicated team member responsible for supporting their nutritional needs during their stay.
The Food Service Associate ensures patients receive meals that meet their dietary prescriptions, assists with menu selections, and communicates patient concerns to the clinical dietitian team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with selecting appropriate daily menu options according to their prescribed diets.
Prepare, assemble, and deliver patient meal trays and snacks to bedside.
Ensure meals and beverages comply with the patient’s diet orders and restrictions.
Calculate and modify diet requirements, including fluid restrictions and calorie counts when required.
Provide meal assistance to patients including meal delivery, service, and tray retrieval.
Communicate patient questions or concerns regarding nutrition to the clinical dietitian.
Stock nursing unit pantries with patient food supplies.
Perform kitchen duties including sanitation, food preparation setup, and maintaining cleanliness.
Record and monitor temperature logs for food safety compliance.
Use automated tablets or electronic systems to record and transfer patient meal selections.
Qualifications
Technical, trade, or vocational degree in a related field OR minimum 2 years of relevant food service or healthcare food service experience.
Knowledge of basic diet and nutrition guidelines.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to explain dietary information to patients who may have limited knowledge of nutrition.
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment while maintaining high standards of food safety and service.
Preferred Skills
Experience in hospital or healthcare food service
Familiarity with patient diet orders and nutrition requirements
Customer service experience
