Position Overview:Specialty : General Surgery Location : Near Hope Mills, NC Start Date : ASAP End Date : Ongoing Position Type : Locum Tenens Coverage Type : Call Only EMR System : MediTech 6.1 Practice Setting : Inpatient Key Responsibilities:Call Coverage : Provide 24-hour call coverage from 7 AM to 7 AM, including holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. Be within 20 minutes of the facility while on call, as required by the bylaws.Bread and Butter General Surgery : Handle routine general surgery procedures including:Hernia repair Cholecystectomy Breast surgery Minor procedures like "lumps and bumps" and abscess drainage Endoscopy procedures (EGD and colonoscopy) Appendectomy Small bowel and colon surgeryPatient Management : Provide high-quality care during call shifts, ensuring that all patients receive timely and effective treatment. Collaborate with the medical team to manage patient care and provide surgical interventions as needed.Practice Details:Certification and Licensure : Board Certification : Required in General Surgery. Licensure : Must hold a current North Carolina state medical license and NC DEA with an NC address. Certifications : ABLS, ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS certifications are mandatory. Medicaid Credentialing : The provider must be credentialed with NC Medicaid.Credentialing and Background : Estimated credentialing timeframe is approximately two weeks. A clean background with no recent or open malpractice cases is highly preferred. Malpractice or disciplinary history must be disclosed during the application process.Housing and Travel : On-Site Housing : Surgeons will be provided with a hospital-owned individual apartment on-site. The accommodations are described as very nice and clean, including cable and Wi-Fi.
