Tax Advisory - State and Local Tax (Sales & Use) Manager

When you join our Tax Advisory practice, you will be part of a team working hand in hand with our clients to help them navigate the dynamic challenges associated with rapidly evolving tax policy. You will tackle a variety of complex projects related to tax advisory, business transactions, and strategy.As a Manager, you will lead the delivery of client engagements, serving as the day-to-day point of contact for the client, guiding a team of junior consultants through the project lifecycle and ensuring high quality projects are consistently executed on time and on budget. While developing your project and people management skills, you will further augment your advisory toolkit by digging deep into client problems in real-time and delivering ongoing thought partnership. With experienced leaders to guide you along the way – including a dedicated performance advisor – we are invested in accelerating your growth.What You’ll DoProvide indirect tax planning and consulting services to multi-state and multi-national clientsResearch and draft technical memorandum discussing potential sales and use tax consequences of business transactionsResearch and provide state tax nexus determinations, taxability analyses, and quantification of potential sales and use/indirect tax exposuresAddress clients’ sales and use tax concerns, including voluntary disclosure agreements, reverse audits, audit defense, other indirect tax controversyAssist with sales tax software implementations and management of clients’ sales tax softwareAssist with clients’ sales and use tax accountingEnsure client satisfaction through effective communication and delivering quality and timely projectsAssist with managing client engagement setup, staffing, and billingWho You AreYou have a passion for developing client relationships and an appetite for building new skills You readily identify issues and instinctively look for solutions You demonstrate analytical rigor and strong written and verbal communication skills You enjoy participating in internal and external company initiatives such as community service, training, recruiting, and firm events Required QualificationsMaster's or advanced degree in Taxation, CPA, CMI, or JD/LLM6+ years of indirect tax experience; preferably with Big 4 or large CPA firm experienceExcellent state tax research and writing skillsAbility to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, exhibit a sense of urgency, and commitment to quality and the timely completion of projectsAbility to manage multiple engagements in a team environmentKnowledge of tax software and technology including Avalara and VertexExcellent communication skillsApplications for this evergreen opportunity will be accepted through Dec 31, 2026.About RiveronAt Riveron, we partner with clients—from global multinationals to high-growth private entities—to solve complex finance challenges, guided by our DELTA values: Drive, Excellence, Leadership, Teamwork, and Accountability.
