Adult Education Teaching Assistant / Evening Floating Substitute (Evening English Classes)
Position PurposeMcDowell Education Center is seeking a dependable and flexible Teaching Assistant (TA) who will also serve as a floating substitute for evening English classes in our Adult Education program. This school-year position supports adult English Language Learners (ELLs) by assisting instructors during scheduled classes and providing instructional coverage when instructors are absent. The ideal candidate enjoys working with adult learners, is adaptable, and contributes to a positive and supportive learning environment.This position is MondayThursday, 5:008:00 PMEssential FunctionsTeaching Assistant ResponsibilitiesSupport English instructors during evening adult education classesWork with small groups or individual students to reinforce lessons and language skillsAssist with classroom management and student engagementPrepare and distribute instructional materialsEncourage and support adult learners with varying English proficiency levelsAssist with basic classroom technology (Chromebooks, online learning platforms, etc.)Floating Substitute ResponsibilitiesServe as a substitute instructor when an English teacher is absentImplement provided lesson plans and instructional materialsMaintain a structured, inclusive, and respectful classroom environmentTake attendance and communicate relevant information to program staffAdapt instruction as needed to support adult learnersAdditional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Director.
