All qualified and interested applicants are encouraged to apply.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides direct instruction for English Language Learners (ELL) for part of the instructional day, including developing and delivering standards-based lessons designed to support English language acquisition and academic achievementPlans, coordinates, and team-teaches the instruction program according to the adopted curriculum for a junior-senior high school English classroomCollaborates with general education teachers to support English Learners in content-area classes and ensures appropriate instructional accommodations and modificationsDevelops and implements Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) or other required documentation for English Learners in accordance with state and federal guidelinesAdminister required language proficiency tests (WIDA) for determining placement in grades 7-12Monitors student progress in English language proficiency and academic growth, utilizing assessment data to inform instructionsDemonstrates effective classroom management and instructional skills to ensure a positive learning environmentImplements appropriate lesson plans and adapts teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including multilingual studentsCommunicates effectively with students, families, and staff regarding student progress and program expectationsPlease note that the teaching load will primarily be EL, but English teaching duties will be included occasionally depending upon student scheduling needsJOB SPECIFICATIONS:Education, Training, and Experience Required:Bachelor's Degree (minimum)Valid Indiana certification/licensure in English Learner (EL) instruction (or willingness to obtain EL certification prior to start date)Valid Indiana Secondary Teacher's License in English (or willingness to obtain)Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanorExperience working in a school environment preferredKnowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:Displays positive and enthusiastic attitudeAbility to work as a team with other staffDisplays dependability and punctualityWORKING CONDITIONS:Position works indoors in a typical school classroom environmentMay work near others, often within a few feetMay occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distractingThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
