Junior Software DeveloperLocation: United States | RemoteEmployment Type: Full-time, W-2Department: EngineeringAbout the RoleWe are seeking a Junior Software Developer to join our engineering team and contribute to the development, enhancement, testing, and maintenance of software applications. This is an entry-level opportunity for candidates who have foundational programming knowledge and are interested in building practical software-development experience in a collaborative environment.The ideal candidate is curious, detail-oriented, comfortable learning new technologies, and able to work through technical problems systematically. Internship experience, academic projects, coding projects, or other hands-on development experience are welcome.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with developing, testing, debugging, and maintaining software applications.Write clean, readable, and maintainable code under the guidance of experienced developers.Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback into development work.Troubleshoot software issues and help identify practical solutions.Work with team members to understand technical requirements and translate them into software features.Develop and maintain APIs, application components, scripts, or other software functionality as assigned.Work with databases and write basic queries when required.Create and maintain technical documentation related to development work.Use version-control systems such as Git to manage code changes.Participate in testing and quality-assurance activities to help deliver reliable software.Learn and apply development standards, tools, and processes used by the engineering team.Required Qualifications0–2 years of software-development experience, including internships, academic projects, personal projects, or equivalent practical experience.Foundational knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C#, or a comparable language.Basic understanding of software-development concepts, including debugging, testing, version control, and object-oriented programming.Familiarity with Git or another version-control system.Basic understanding of databases and SQL.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work effectively with others.Willingness to learn new technologies and development practices.A bachelor's degree is not required where equivalent practical experience demonstrates the necessary skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience developing academic, personal, open-source, or internship projects.Familiarity with REST APIs and web-development concepts.Exposure to Agile or other collaborative software-development practices.Familiarity with unit testing or automated testing concepts.Experience working with cloud platforms or modern development tools.Familiarity with software-development lifecycle practices.Compensation & BenefitsBase Salary: $80,000–$105,000 per year.This is a full-time W-2 position.
