Assistant MPC Manager
Position SummaryThe MPC Assistant Manager is responsible for learning, managing, and executing critical cross-functional operational responsibilities within the Materials & Production Control department. This position is expected to develop full working knowledge and ownership capability across Production Control, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Material Control, Shipping, Receiving, and Packaging functions.The individual in this role must become proficient in departmental processes and be capable of independently performing and leading responsibilities typically handled by process owners when necessary. This position requires a proactive, team-oriented, and results-driven professional who can operate independently while maintaining strong adherence to company procedures and chain of command.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction ControlLearn, manage, and execute production scheduling responsibilities for:Lamination operationsCoater operationsMonitor production flow and schedule adherence to ensure operational efficiencyCoordinate with production departments to align priorities and minimize downtimeCommunicate scheduling changes, constraints, and impacts proactivelyDevelop a strong understanding of capacity planning and material readiness requirementsPurchasing & ProcurementLearn and manage purchasing and procurement processes for raw materials, supplies, and operational needsWork directly with suppliers and vendors to support on-time delivery and procurement efficiencyMonitor purchase orders, delivery timelines, and supply risksEnsure purchasing activities support production schedules and inventory objectivesMaintain procurement documentation and purchasing accuracyImprove Vendor lead times by proactively negotiating and understanding constraintsReduce costInventory & Material ControlDevelop ownership-level understanding of inventory control and material management processesMaintain inventory accuracy through proper transaction control and inventory practicesLead and support cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation activitiesMonitor inventory levels to reduce shortages, overproduction, and excess inventoryDrive FIFO (First-In, First-Out) material usage practicesSupport reduction of aged and obsolete inventoryShipping, Receiving & PackagingLearn and oversee daily shipping, receiving, and packaging operationsEnsure accurate processing and movement of incoming and outgoing materialsCoordinate packaging requirements and shipment preparation activitiesVerify shipping and receiving documentation for accuracy and complianceSupport logistics coordination to meet operational and customer requirementsCross-Functional Leadership & DevelopmentBecome fully cross-trained in all major MPC functions and departmental processesBe capable of filling in for process owners and independently managing responsibilities when requiredWork collaboratively with Production, Quality, Customer Service, Engineering, Warehouse, and other departmentsIdentify and support continuous improvement opportunities within department operationsAssist with operational reporting, metrics analysis, and performance trackingPromote accountability, communication, and teamwork across the departmentQualificationsRequired Skills & ExperienceStrong organizational, leadership, and multitasking abilitiesExcellent communication and coordination skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to adapt quickly and learn multiple operational processesComfortable working in a high mix manufacturing environmentProficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applicationsStrong attention to detail and sense of urgencyPreferred QualificationsExperience in manufacturing, production control, supply chain, or materials managementWorking knowledge of production scheduling and inventory control systemsExperience with purchasing, logistics, warehouse operations, or material planningUnderstanding of FIFO inventory management principlesDesired CharacteristicsTeam-oriented and collaborative mindsetResults-driven with strong accountabilityProactive and self-motivatedComfortable taking ownership of responsibilitiesStrong ability to follow chain of command and company proceduresDependable, adaptable, and solution-orientedWillingness to learn and master cross-functional operational responsibilitiesReporting StructureReports directly to the MPC Manager and works closely with cross-functional department leaders to support operational performance, inventory accuracy, production continuity, and customer satisfaction.
