SummaryGrand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to support students in the Resource Room. This full-time position involves working with students who require individualized assistance to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and inclusive environment, fostering student growth and development while collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff.ResponsibilitiesProvide individualized and small group instruction to students with diverse learning needs.Develop and implement tailored educational plans (IEPs) in collaboration with special education staff and other educators.Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and self-advocacy.Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lessons and materials for students in the Resource Room.Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and areas for improvement.Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with educational trends.Assist in the training and supervision of paraprofessionals and support staff as needed.Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education services.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.Valid teaching certification in Special Education, Emotionally Impaired Endorsement Preferred.Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a resource room setting.Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and special education laws.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators, administrators, and support staff.Proficient in utilizing technology and educational software to enhance learning.Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and implement positive behavior support strategies.
