Read more at www.dsv.comLocation: USA - Creve Coeur, Emerson RdDivision: Air & SeaJob Posting Title: Freight Forwarder, Ocean ImportTime Type: Full TimeSummaryA Freight Forwarder Ocean Import is responsible for managing the importation and exportation of goods by ocean, including all aspects of the logistics process such as customs clearance, carrier booking, cargo tracking, documentation, delivery or pick up of goods, and communication with customers and third party service providers. This role involves coordinating with various parties including carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.Duties And ResponsibilitiesManage the importation of goods by ocean, including customs clearance and delivery to the final destinationManage the exportation of goods by ocean, including carrier booking and managing the movement of goods through various transportation channels. Coordinate with carriers, customs brokers, and trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of goodsPrepare, process, submit required documentation for customs clearance, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other relevant paperworkTrack and monitor shipments and provide regular updates to customers on the status of their shipments Manage relationships with customers, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns or issues that may ariseCollaborate with other internal departments, such as logistics, finance, and operations, to ensure timely and efficient service deliveryEnsure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws, including customs regulations and trade lawsAll other duties as assignedEducational Background / Work ExperiencePrior experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field is preferredExperience in ocean import and export is highly desirableSkills & CompetenciesMathematical SkillsAbility to perform basic mathematical calculations, such as calculating costs and ratesOther SkillsExcellent organizational and time management skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environmentFunction / Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen / ProcessesKnowledge of ocean freight logistics and customs regulationsUnderstanding of trade laws and regulationsLanguage SkillsFluency in English is requiredKnowledge of additional languages is a plusComputer LiteracyProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with logistics software and systems is preferredFor this position, the expected base pay range is $20.00 - $23.50 per hour.
