Fundraising Specialist
Job DescriptionWKTV Community Media, now in it's 50th year, is seeking a Fundraising Specialist. The position will be primarily responsible for leading and assisting fundraising efforts with the General Manager/Executive Director. We are a small force, but our work output is intense and varied. The successful candidate will be joining a team where our team of 5 simply rolls up their sleeves to get the job done. We are a small, but diverse community media company whose programming output is incredibly varied. Chosen candidate will assist in identifying current and future content for strategic fundraising across our platforms of television and on-line. If you like a job where you engage with a wide range of people in planning events, creating marketing content for social media and television, plus fundraising and reaching your goals, then this could the position for you. The position will also engage in soliciting corporate support, coordinating events, soliciting foundations, shaping capital campaigns and marketing; all are fundamental aspects of this position. The Fundraising Specialist will need basic media skills or be able to adapt with training to utilize WKTV’s resources to create, collaborate and support all areas of fundraising. Environment is busy and one thing is probably for sure: this could be the most interesting job you'll ever have. The position also includes a good benefits package.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To think creatively, yet practically. Demonstrate ability to be a successful fundraiser and able to meet targets. Coordinate to develop, manage and evaluate traditional and digital fundraising strategies. Assist and sometimes lead in building a culture of philanthropy and donor stewardship. Help identify, cultivate and pursue acknowledgement of donors who support the work of WKTV Community Media. Focus on content strategies that will appeal and encourage business and industry to continue to support the mission of WKTV Community Media. Oversee the development and application of grants to private and governmental agencies. Assist to evaluate, develop, and implement future capital campaigns. Coordinate and collaborate with other staff, volunteers and interns. Other duties as needed. WKTV Community Media offers a flexible work environment. May require evening and weekend work as special events and projects dictate. Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:Experience in professional fundraising.Ability to influence and engage with a wide range of donors and other community members to foster long term relationships. Understand budget management and preparation. Able to engage in grant writing and reporting. Ability to analyze data and benchmarks. A proven self-starter and self-manager. A person who can commit to a team-oriented workplace that is creative, diverse and sometimes eccentric. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Practical knowledge of current marketing and advertising practices, including branding, basic PR, a good sense of storytelling, Social Media and Digital Marketing content creation skills are a plus, but not mandatory as we can train the right person.
