On-site responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals, controllers, wiring, and related hardware; performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure proper operation and compliance with traffic and safety standards. The technician will diagnose malfunctions, replace components, test equipment, and coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and local agencies to schedule work and minimize traffic disruption. The role also involves updating maintenance logs, completing service reports, and following all safety procedures and regulations while working in and around active roadways. Candidates should be comfortable working both outdoors and in an office/home setting, occasionally in varying weather conditions and during off-hours or on-call shifts as needed.Qualifications Technical aptitude in electrical or electronics work, including basic knowledge of wiring, circuits, and troubleshooting of control systems.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, and to follow established procedures and safety guidelines.Experience or training in traffic signals, roadway lighting, or related transportation infrastructure is preferred but not required.Strong organizational, documentation, and computer skills for maintaining records, completing reports, and using diagnostic or monitoring software.Effective communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with field crews, supervisors, contractors, and public agencies.Comfort working at heights or in confined spaces when required, and ability to lift and handle tools, equipment, and materials safely.High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training in electrical, electronics, or transportation systems is a plus.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record suitable for operating company vehicles.Willingness to participate in ongoing training, obtain relevant certifications, and adhere to all safety and regulatory requirements.
