Java/API DeveloperGenesis10 is currently seeking a Java/API Developer for a contract position with a Major Financial Institution located in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX, Phoenix, AZ or Charlotte, NC. This is an 8 month contract opportunity.We are seeking a Full Stack Java/API Developer to join a large-scale modernization initiative focused on transforming legacy banking and credit card applications into modern, API-driven solutions. This role will be heavily involved in new development, building microservices and REST APIs from the ground up while contributing across both backend and frontend technologies. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer who can independently deliver high-quality code, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute throughout the entire software development lifecycle.Responsibilities:Design, develop, and support Java-based applications and microservicesBuild REST APIs from scratch using Spring Boot and modern development frameworksDevelop and enhance Angular-based user interfacesCreate scalable, maintainable, and high-performing applicationsParticipate in architecture discussions and technical design reviewsDevelop unit tests and support automated testing effortsTroubleshoot application, API, and database issuesSupport deployments, release activities, and production environmentsCollaborate with Architects, Product Owners, and cross-functional teamsFollow organizational coding standards and development best practicesParticipate in modernization projects involving legacy systems and data migration effortsRequirements:5 years (Mid-Level) or 8 years (Senior) of software development experienceStrong Java 17 experience (Java 21 exposure is a plus)Strong Core Java and J2EE backgroundExperience with Spring Framework and Spring BootREST API development experienceMicroservices architecture experienceStrong SQL skillsExperience with MongoDB or Oracle databasesExperience creating applications and services from scratchStrong troubleshooting and debugging skillsExperience supporting CI/CD and release processesAbility to explain previous projects in detail and demonstrate hands-on development contributionsDesired skills:Angular development experienceKafka development experienceBanking or financial services experienceCredit card processing or rewards platform experienceExperience modernizing legacy applicationsFamiliarity with COBOL, DB2, VSAM, or mainframe environmentsPay range: $42.44 - $50.44 per hourOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
